Later life lending: time
to re-educate

As the later life lending market starts to recover, it’s time for lenders to educate, communicate and dispel residual stigma

The later life lending market has returned to growth after the disruption of the past couple of years. 

According to the latest figures published by The Equity Release Council in January 2022, lending levels during 2021 were at a record high and the number of new and returning later life mortgage customers increased. This is good news and in line with adviser expectations. However, equity release specialists on our Citrine Research Adviser Exchange Sounding Board tell us: “There’s not enough positive campaigning or advertising.”
